For 50 years, UCL has been delivering Human Sciences degree programmes, training biological scientists to combine multiple areas of expertise and communicate across a wide range of disciplines.
Co-delivered by the Division of Biosciences and the Department of Anthropology, the Human Sciences degrees equip you with a wide and scientific knowledge of human beings. Following a foundational study of human structure, function, evolution and behaviour in the first year, you’ll spend the majority of your remaining time on the programme exploring your scientific interests across a self-curated diet of learning and research.
Supported by expert tutors, you’ll develop your own specialist areas of enquiry, combining modules from across the sciences, arts and humanities on topics as diverse as cognitive neuroscience, science journalism and palaeoanthropology. In the third year of the BSc programme, you will undertake an interdisciplinary dissertation project on a subject of your own choosing.
You can transfer between the BSc and the MSci at any point in your first two years on programme. On the four-year MSci Human Sciences and Evolution, you will have the option to study one of the world’s richest fossil records at the Turkana Basin Institute in Kenya during your third year, before completing your final year with a focus on human evolutionary sciences.
