Research overview
Our main projects involve:
(i) inferring population structure and ancestry in world-wide populations, including intermixing events
(ii) pinpointing genetic loci facilitating humans' adaptations to new environments
(iii) identifying loci whose methylation markings are likely established in the early embryo and influence lifelong health outcomes.
Our group is interested in studying human evolutionary history, focusing on how genetic and epigenetic variation facilitates the adaptation of humans to environmental pressures, and how this affects human health today.
This currently includes collaborations with institutes in the Gambia and Japan, analysing both large-scale biobank-level datasets and DNA from ancient human remains (aDNA).
