Events and Seminars
We host four annual events that bring together scientists from across London to share new ideas in ecology and evolution and to foster collaboration.
What’s on
Details of upcoming CEE events are circulated regularly; if you would like to subscribe please visit our Mailing List. If you would like to circulate a seminar, event or lecture series to CEE, please e-mail details of the event, at least two weeks before the seminar date, to cee@ucl.ac.uk. Once accepted your event will be publicised, via our e-mail mailing list and on Bluesky.
CEE awards for ECR and those with caring responsibilities - Darwin Birthday Debate
The following awards are available:
- Travel awards for early-career researchers based outside of London who would like to attend. These awards will cover the costs of travel from elsewhere in the UK, as well as accommodation in London for one night.
- Carers awards to support the attendance of researchers with caring responsibilities, which could be put towards childcare or other caring costs.
- We can sponsor early-career researchers to join the speakers and CEE committee for dinner after the debate.
Annual Darwin Birthday Debate
CEE Annual Darwin's Birthday Debate is hosted at the Natural History Museum every February. The debate consists of two or three speakers followed by a panel discussion on a currently relevant topic.
Spring Symposium
CEE Spring Symposium is led and organised every year by a student or a group with guidance from the Committee. This enables students to learn and develop skills they will need in the future.
Autumn Symposium and Mixer
Autumn Symposium and Mixer is CEE event at the start of the academic term in September hosted various institutes. We bring together speakers from all the committees for a series of 10 min talks.
Family Day (Wallmer)
Wallmer is CEE summer event at ZSL or Kew which provides researchers (and their families) an opportunity to network with others and find future collaborators within the field of ecology and evolution.
