SEW/16 - Post Second World War years, general (1945-1951)

In November 1945 RWSW took up the new Chair of Czechoslovak Studies at Oxford University which had been funded by President Beneš and remained there until his retirement in 1949. In June 1946 RWSW made his last foreign visit, to Czechoslovakia, where he and his wife were the guests of the President. He was saddened by post war events in Eastern Europe, in particular political persecution of some of his friends. He died on 25 July 1951 at his home on the Isle of Skye.
