Yugoslavia was one of the countries covered by RWSW in his political intelligence summaries for the Political Intelligence Department (see SEW/12/2/1-3). He was involved with the three "black" propaganda radio stations created for Yugoslavia. He was also occupied as a private citizen with Yugoslav affairs and was in contact with members of the exiled Government. RWSW became convinced of the need to support Marshall Tito's Partisans who were fighting to free occupied Yugoslavia, since he saw them standing for Yugoslav unity. He was a long standing member of the Yugoslav Society of Great Britain which had existed since 1927 but left in December 1944 because of a dispute over support for the Partisans. Instead he became president of the pro-Partisan Yugoslavia Emergency Committee, which was formed in reaction to the Pan-Serb stance of the Yugoslav Relief Society. The Committee later became the British-Yugoslav Association, RWSW resigned from the Association in October 1946 due to his unhappiness at actions by the Yugoslav Government.
