UCL is seeking transformative subscription deals that allow all UCL's articles with a particular publisher to be made Gold open access. Current deals, some not yet fully transformative, are here.
Institute of Physics
UCL corresponding authors, and papers acknowledging UCL UKRI or Wellcome Trust funding, are eligible to publish research articles and uncommissioned reviews Gold open access in IOP's subscription journals and selected IOP partner journals. This deal offsets open access charges against UCL's IOP subscription cost. AAS titles are not included.
IOP may identify UCL corresponding authors as eligible for Gold open access and request approval for payment from UCL’s Open Access Team. Otherwise, contact the Open Access Team on acceptance.
Oxford University Press
After acceptance, OUP will send the corresponding author a link to their Author Services portal, where they should agree to the CC BY licence, select University College London on the Article Charges page, and click to refer the charge to UCL.
Royal Society of Chemistry (Read & Publish)
RSC's Read & Publish deal allows all UCL corresponding authors to publish Gold open access in RSC's subscription journals. UCL strongly encourages all authors to take advantage of this transformative deal.
When you submit, ensure that you are listed as the corresponding author, with your UCL affiliation and e-mail address, in RSC’s online submission system and in your manuscript. After acceptance, RSC will send you a link to their licensing system. You will be identified as eligible for Read & Publish, and should choose Gold Open Access Publication and CC BY.
Springer (Springer Compact)
Our Springer Compact deal allows all UCL corresponding authors to publish Gold open access in Springer journals that offer CC BY. The following article types are covered: Original Paper, Review Paper, Brief Communication and Continuing Education. UCL strongly encourages all authors to take advantage of this transformative deal.
After acceptance, Springer will send you a link to their MyPublication form, where you should give your UCL e-mail address and affiliation, and agree to the open access terms (including CC BY).
