4 November 2024

Reading Week is the perfect time to go beyond your reading list and explore assignments and other research topics in more depth.

The library has lots of online resources to help you find relevant material and evaluate what you read.

Reading Week is a good time to reflect on what you’ve learnt so far and start applying it in your assignments, dissertation or research projects. Even if you are not on campus, the library has lots of online resources to help you.

We are here to help

  • Our guide to Explore, the UCL library catalogue, can help you find resources beyond your reading lists.
  • Your subject guide put together by your librarian or site librarians can help you find subject-specific books, journals, and databases. You can also find librarian contact details for one-to-one support.
  • Once you have found some resources, our Good academic practice in the use of sources tutorial can help you evaluate what you read. You may also find our new Introduction to referencing tutorial useful for improving your knowledge and confidence so that you can appropriately acknowledge what you read.
  • It is likely you will have heard a lot about Generative AI and may be curious about it in the context of the research process. Our Generative AI and Library Skills guide outlines its potential and acceptable uses, but also limitations and other considerations.
