Office for Open Science and Scholarship’s first year

The UCL Office for Open Science and Scholarship has marked the end of Open Access week and its first anniversary with a blog post and animation celebrating the achievements of the teams that support Open across UCL.

Over the last year, teams across Library Services have supported the university community to make their work open.

Some highlights:

  • Over 20,000 records were uploaded to UCL Discovery in 2021. The combined number of theses uploaded hit 21,000.
  • The number of downloads from UCL’s Research Data Repository, specialising in Open Access Research Data and code, increased by over 700%.
  • UCL Press surpassed 5 million downloads across their 200+ books!

Dr Paul Ayris, Pro-Vice-Provost (UCL Library Services & UCL Office for Open Science and Scholarship) and CEO of UCL Press said: 

“It’s been a spectacular year for open science and scholarship at UCL, with a number of significant milestones reached. I’m delighted that our efforts are having a significant impact on research culture.”
