Library Services have opened new temporary study space to increase your opportunities of studying on campus safely.

This article was published in October 2020. Temporary Study Space in Bidborough House has now closed.

Bookable study spaces are available in two rooms within the Student Centre, floors 7-9 of 1-19 Torrington Place and some of our libraries. All other study spaces will be available on a ‘turn up and study’ basis as usual.

You can now book additional study space in Bidborough House and 1-19 Torrington Place. These spaces have opened temporarily to provide you with a safe and COVID-secure space to study.

In order to open our libraries and study spaces safely we have had to implement new restrictions including making sure that all study spaces are socially distanced. The only way to do this is by reducing the number of desks available in our libraries and study spaces. This means that overall there are fewer study spaces across campus than last year.

Booking a space

You can now book two time slots per day in our Libraries and study spaces, up to 14 days in advance. For more guidance go to the Library Services study space booking webpages.

Please check our opening hours to find out which libraries and study spaces are open.

You can access print books through our Click and Collect Service. Books requested in this way will be held for you to collect and borrow within 3 days. Please bring your confirmation email with you to gain access to the library.

If you are visiting campus, please read UCL’s Keeping Safe on Campus guidance.

We would like to thank the Professional Services staff who offered their office space for students and staff who need to study on campus this term.

Library Services Support for students away from campus

If you are not able to return to campus you can continue to access online books, request chapters through our scan and send service and speak to library staff. Please check our Library Essentials guide for more information on how we will support you this year.
