Literature Searching and Databases for Biomedicine (Location: GOS Institute of Child Health)

Location: Wolfson Centre, cluster room I. This session will enable you to carry out searches in a variety of resources, including the Ovid interface to databases such as Medline, Embase and PsycINFO, as well as other databases including the Web of Science, Scopus and the Cochrane Library.

  • Translate a research query into an effective search strategy.
  • Use thesaurus and text word searching.
  • Combine searches using AND, OR and NOT.
  • Search a range of databases.
