UCL Library Services Exhibitions

UCL Library Services has extensive archives including rare books, manuscripts, personal papers, historical records and artefacts across a range of subjects. Each year there are themed exhibitions in the Main Library that draw particularly on highlights from UCL Special Collections. There are also both temporary and permanent exhibitions at other UCL libraries. On occasion, the libraries arrange exhibitions at alternative UCL and external locations too.

The History of the Ladies' Samaritan Society: 1861-2014
Queen Square Library, Archive and Museum

The Ladies' Samaritan Society was founded in 1861 and exists to provide financial support to patients at the National Hospital. They make grants toward the provision of essential equipment for patients' use at home, contributions towards holiday and respite care, and help with travel and accommodation expenses. They hold various fund-raising events throughout the year.

The exhibition, which features photographs of founding and current members of the Society, fundraising materials, events and objects has been curated by Ladies' Samaritan Society volunteers, who have provided invaluable support to Queen Square Archives over many years.
