The student life in London oral history project interviewed former students to capture their memories of working and living in the capital.

Student London book cover
As part of the research for the book Student London, over 90 oral history interviews were recoded. Most interviewees studied at UCL or one of the many institutions that used to be independent but subsequently merged with UCL, including the IOE, SSEES, the School of Pharmacy, and two medical schools.

The collection includes a diverse range of people who studied a wide variety of subjects from the 1940s to the 2020s. They were interviewed between 2022 and 2026. The project was run by Dr Sam Blaxland, and overseen by Professor Georgina Brewis at the IOE and John Dubber at Students’ Union UCL.

The full collection will be available soon. If you have any questions, please email Sam Blaxland.
