Liberating Voices

Across two discrete but related displays, Liberating Voices uncovers and re-discovers lives and experiences revealed through items held by UCL Special Collections.

The Road to Gender Equality narrates the history of the women’s suffrage movement and UCL’s ongoing work to disrupt our thinking of the past, with materials drawn from the 2018 Library Services Dangers and Delusions exhibition.

Liberating the Collections profiles some of the material identified by Special Collections’ ongoing Liberating the Collections project, working with volunteers to shine a spotlight on marginalized voices in our archives and rare books.

This exhibition was commissioned to tie into the 2022 visit to UCL of Hope the Lego Suffragette.
