The
SMT, or Senior Management Team, comprises the group of
senior managers in Library Services who are responsible
for the effective running of the Library along with the
implementation of strategic development plans. The Team
is chaired by Dr Paul Ayris as Director of Library Services.
He is currently the line manager for the Subject Librarians
and UCL Medical Librarians. |

Cropper (Sub-Librarian); Bibliographic Services, managed by
Diana Mercer (Sub-Librarian) and Reader Services, managed by
Vincent Matthews (Sub-Librarian).
The
Senior Management Team meets once a fortnight to discuss operational
matters and long-term strategic goals. Recent agendas have
included topics such as: the development of Library Services,
accommodation, collection development, bids for project funding,
staff development and training, the development of the re-shelving
and photocopying services. Members of the Senior Management
Team attend each of the eight Faculty Library Committees,
which meet once a term. The Director is a member of the College
Library Committee, whose remit is to formulate medium- and
long-term policy for library provision for UCL.
The
SMT held its first meeting on 21 January 1997. Since its formation
it has held 68 meetings and has become the principal means
of managing staff and services in the Library.
