Please note this call is open to UCL staff and PhD students only

The Institute of Advanced Studies is holding an online festival from 4-6th May 2021 to celebrate its fifth anniversary. Under the umbrella of ‘Alternative Epistemologies’ there will be three days of conversations and performances of every kind. The programme showcases the extensive range of work that has been done over the last five years, whilst also looking towards the research agendas of the future.

qUCL proposes to run an event titled ‘Queer Without Borders 2.0’ as part of the festival. This will be a space for members of qUCL to offer both short ‘potluck’ synopses of an aspect of their research (i.e. 5 minutes to talk, centred around a single slide/image) and to reflect on the last five years of qUCL and its future directions (including conversations with other queer research networks in London and further afield). The date is not yet confirmed, but is likely to be the afternoon of 4th May.

‘Queer Without Borders 2.0’ builds on the successful ‘Queer Without Borders event led by Bob Mills back in 2016. The event will provide opportunities to find out more about queer work being conducted across the University from a range of perspectives—including arts and humanities; the built environment; education; law; medical and life sciences; and social and historical sciences. The aim is to foster interdisciplinary conversation and debate, to identify areas of mutual interest and concern, and to develop plans for future collaborations.

If you would like to take part in this event, either by presenting a ‘potluck’ synopses of your research or some form of interdisciplinary/collaborative conversation with another colleague or network, we would be grateful if you would email lgbtq-research@ucl.ac.uk by 5th February with a short paragraph outlining your proposal.
