Description
QUESTION: Can we help a hand even if we are still a bit little? My lesson plan is born during a discussion with my 'little' students of my 'FIFTH CLASS', the last class of the primary school in Italy with children from 10 -11 years old. We live in a little rural place at 35 KM from Venice. Some of the children are well know with digital tecnologies others a bit lesser. The children like to speak always but often they have many difficultiesin listening to each other. They are very concentrated on their own lives and comunity. I would like to learn them to look a bit outside of their own comunity and learn to do something important their country and the people who are affected by the earthquake. I work two hours a week with every class. I have two fifht classes and other six classes of diffrent levels. My idea is to ask the fifht class students to invite other classes to make a collaborative paint for the art gallery the will create during the poroject. Naturaly I will involve my colleagues before. But in this project it's important that the children feel protagonists. It would be great to involve other teachers also among italian teachers in a Etwinning project. ( this part I will let it for the moment as a possibility)
Aims
Learning to listen more to each other Learn to immagine how the other can feel and think. Learn than we are never to little or 'weak' to help another. Learning by doing what it means to be a comunity. Learn how to harness our talents with and without digital tecnologies tecnologies.
Outcomes
  • Knowledge The children learn how to get information online about Norcia and the events during the earthquake
  • Comprehension Learning about feelings and needs of people who are in difficulty
  • Application The children create an exhbition: Art Gallery and create a lottery to earn money and help to rebuid Norcia (in someway)
  • Evaluation The student learns to reflect ( self reflection and peer to peer) about collaboration and specially about his personal role in the group.
  • Analysis The students will have the occassion to affront difficolties and reflect how to risolve them together.
  • Affective learning outcomes Increase Selfesteem & empathy through collaboration.

COSPACES is a multidevice tool for creating a virtual world. The teacher created un class account a five groups. Every group can change. In this group the children can create a virtual world together. It's meant to help them to increase empaty and understand how the people of Norcia, Amatrice, Castellucio feel and what they need in this moment. Children will collaborate ( flipped the classroom at home because at school we don't have tecnologies to do this)

    The teacher start while all the children are around the big paper, every group behind his designer. Four chilsdren can make photos and ore videos( to show the process afterwards and reflect about it) . The teacher gives some simple istructions and create some opportunities in where the chilsdren need to make a choice ( about a color a what to design or about peer to involve.)

Most of all because someone of us felt ANGRY because he wanted to do someting for these people but he felt unpower. Your teacher propose to make you feel more powerfull together.

Once the children learned a bit more about empatia and collaboration they are ready for a new challenge invite the other classes to collaborate creating collaborative paintings and organize an art gallery. At the end of the exposition they can organize a lottery. The awards are the paints! At the same time the can create postcards with the photo material (paintings) of the different experiences. At home ( always flipped because at school we don't have so much tecnology) the children go on writing the plan till the next week.

Notes:
The Art Gallery will find place after school and the kids can invite parents, teachers and friends. At the of the Gallery the will be the lottery, the children need to find an important person to extract the tickets. I divide the Art Galery time in produce and collaborate because I think this is a mixed activity.
