Thomas Garth was the son of Charles Garth, who in turn was the son of James Edward Colleton's second cousin John Garth, the son of Elizabeth Colleton and Lt Col. Thomas Garth. Elizabeth Colleton and James Edward Colleton's father John Colleton of Barbados were both grandchildren of Sir John Colleton 1st bart. Thomas Garth inherited indirectly as tenant-in-tail (behind his brother Charles Garth Colleton) from James Edward Colleton's widow Frances. |
