  1. Charles Packer (1816-1888): Admitted pensioner (age 19) at Trinity, Cambridge, 17 February 1835. [3rd] son of John [Culling]. Born in Barbados [1816]. School, private. Matriculated. Michaelmas. 1835; B.A. 1839. Admitted at the Inner Temple, 23 November 1837. Called to the Bar, 29 January 1841. Member of the General Assembly, Barbados, 1846-67; Speaker, 1861-6. Solicitor-General, Barbados, 1847-74. Escheator-General, 1859. Member of Legislative Council, 1868-76. Chief Justice of Barbados, 1874. Knighted, 1879.

Charles Packer was married, 1841, Amelia Rebecca, eldest daughter. of J. T. Ellis, Esq., of Barbados. Died Feb. 21, 1888, at Ruttal House, Barbados. (Boase, II. 1299; Walford, County Families; Law Lists; Inns of Court; Foster, Men at the Bar.)
