Biography

Barbados merchant, in partnership with John Fuller and Christopher Fuller.

  1. The will of Thomas Chenery [late of George's Place Holloway but now] of Barbados proved 07/02/1837 shows the testator as the brother of William Chenery and Charles Chenery (each of whom q.v.) and of the deceased John Chenery (q.v.).

  2. William Chenery was bruied in St Michael, Barbados, 05/10/1845 aged 64.

  3. In his will, written in 1843 and proved in 1846, William Chenery stated his effects in the trade of hardware merchant and retailer in Roebuck Street, Bridgetown, were to be sold by his executors. The sole beneficiaries were his four natural daughters Sarah Ann, Elizabeth, Caroline and Sarah Maria Chenery and his esteemed friend Catharine Nanton.

William Chenery of the parish of St Michael and Island of Barbados Esquire.

My executors to dispose of all the stock, goods and effects which I may die possessed of in the trade or business of hardware merchant and retailer now carried on by me in Roebuck Street, Bridgetown, Barbados.

All my estate to my natural daughters Sarah Ann Chenery, Elizabeth Chenery, Caroline Chenery and Sarah Maria Chenery and my esteemed friend Catharine Nanton in equal shares as tenants in common, the share of the said Sarah Maria Chenery to become vested in her at the age of 21 years.

Sarah Ann Chenry, Elizabeth Chenery and Caroline Chenery to be executrixes.
