Counterclaimed apparently unsuccessfully for 1/3rd of the compensation against his relative George F. Benskin (q.v.) for 20 enslaved people in Barbados, as son of James Greaves Blackhurst 'who married Margaret Hope Anderson'.

Christening of James Greaves Blackhurst (born 01/02/1805) and Elizabeth Blackhurst (born 15/04/1803) children of James Greaves Blackhurst late of Demerary merchant deceased and Margaret Hope, 20/12/1815 St John's Preston. Married Ellen Jane Barlow at Haslingden 23/12/1833; death of James Greaves Blackhurst registered Preston Q4 1846.

  2. On the 26th ult. [November 1846] , at Little Hoole, [death of] Mr. Jas. Greaves Blackhurst, solicitor, aged 40 years, son of James Greaves Blackhurst, Esq., formerly of Demerara, West Indies.
