Biography

Awarded part of the compensation for the Islington estate in St Mary Jamaica with his brother Rev. John Twells (q.v.), probably as trustees of 'Mrs Spooner' (Elmina Spooner, q.v.).  

  1. In 1871 Philip Twells aged 62 banker magistrate landowner was living at Chaseside House High Street Enfield with 6 servants. In 1851 he had been living with John Twells his father aged 74 and mother Mary aged 72 in Church Street Stoke Newington, when he was described as 'barrister actually practising.'   

  2. He died at Eastbourne 08/05/1880, leaving £300,000.
