Biography

  1. In 1805 a Solicitor practising in Lincoln's Inn, but afterwards retired. Solicitor, Trustee, and Auditor forJohn William Ward, the Earl of Dudley. A director of the North Western Railway, and the Shrewsbury and Birmingham Railway. Unsuccessfully contested Wolverhampton in 1837, then sat for Dudley (through Lord Dudley and Ward's influence) from 1844 until his death at Hastings in 1855.1855, aged 86. His wife Elizabeth died 19 November 1825. They had at least three daughters. Eliza Benbow born 1797 died unmarried 1876. The third daughter, Harriett Benbow (1799-1875), married H.D. Warter of Logden Manor, Shropshire.
