John James Ronaldson

Biography

Awarded the compensation for the enslaved people on Oldbury estate in Manchester with James Sutton and Robert Sutton junr 'owners-in-fee.' Despite this description, the award appears possibly to be to them as trustees, probbaly connected with the Suttons' borther-in-law James Swaby.

Probably but not certainly the Robert Sutton junr and James Sutton were the two men whose partnership as stockbrokers with Robert Sutton and Thomas Gribble was dissolved 31/12/1842 through the retirement of Robert Sutton. The Oldbury estate is shown against a series of apparently unconnected people in the Jamaica Almanacs.
