Partner in Sir James Esdaile & Co. (q.v.), which failed in 1837.

  1. In 1838 there was a suit over Sir James Esdaile & Co, esp. Rees Goring Thomas's capital: names partners as William Esdaile, Pascoe St Leger Grenfell, Thomas Scott, James Esdaile Hammett and John Athol Hammett. Esdaile was only the 'monied partner', William Esdaile transferred £20,000 to name of Rees Goring Thomas for him to commence business with. Thomas Scott was described as little more than a clerk.
