Biography

Co-heiress of her father Ellys Anderson Stephens (q.v), and one of four daughters and their husbands who appear (three as remaindermen) in a series of awards in Barbados, the largest concerning the Byde Mill estate for which an agent, Joseph Warner Bromley, received the compensation on behalf of all the trustees involved.

  1. William Henry Layton, eldest son of Rev. T. Layton of Chigwell, married Frances Elizabeth, second daughter of Ellys Anderson Stephens of Bower Hall Essex 01/02/1817. They had six children born in Steeple Bumpstead, Essex: Ellys Anderson Stephens (1817), Frederic Champion (1819), Henry Bendysh (1821), George Richard (1824), Thomas Champion (1826) and Mary Louisa (1828). In the census of 1841 with her parents, husband and children at Bower Hall, Steeple Bumpstead.
