Partner in Thwaites, Trecothick & Co. until 1831, when it became Trecothick & Roper (q.v.). Previously partner with James Trecothick and Charles Apthorp[e] Wheelwright.
Thwaites & Trecothick, merchants 25 Cullum Street.
Francis Thwaites of Woburn Place buried aged 81 St George's Bloomsbury 31/05/1837. In 1835 Francis Thwaites was at 32 Woburn Place.
Will of Francis Thwaites Esq of Woburn Place proved 11/08/1837. The will is unusual, leaving his estate in trust to be willed during his lifetime by his wife Susanna. It appears clear that if she predeceased him he intended to write another will.
Possibly related to Jesse Thwaites who was a slave owner in Antigua. See Jessie Thwaites (ID: 401), award: Antigua 837.
Francis Thwaites may also have been a member of the Loyal Islington Volunteer Infantry, 1803 and the same as gave £5 to the General Fund for the Relief of the . . . Clergy in Ireland in 1835.
T71/877 Antigua claim nos. 117 (Herbert's) and 360 (Nibb's).
