Biography

Awarded part of the compensation as a judgement creditor for three linked awards in Barbados and very probably the same man as the Thomas Beard who received compensation for the enslaved people on Jackson's in Barbados.

  1. In 1851 Thomas Beard aged 82 born Barbados 'landed proprietor' was living at 9 Raby Place Bathwick Somerset with two visitors Rebecca Goodridge and Johanna Cooke, both born Barbados and his grand-daughter Sarah Gittens aged 23 also born Barbados. In 1841, Thomas Beard aged 70 Ind., born foreign parts, had been living at Pulteney Street Bath with Rebecca Goodridge Ind., born foreign parts, Jona [sic] Cooke (shown as a female servant born out of parish) and 2 servants. Will of Thomas Beard of Bath Somerset proved 26/3/1856.

  2. Possibly (but not certainly, prior to investigation of the will)  the Thomas Beard Esq., under whose will £5000 was left to Thomas Morris, otherwise Beard, late of St Andrews Barbados who died February 1852 and after whose death before payment  the money was to go to Thomas Morris Beard's children.
