Biography

  1. Given in the slave compensation records as M.W. Stamp, but likely Marcus William Stamp, practitioner of physic and medicine and named as an executor in the will of Peter McKie of St Catherine (written in 1837).

  2. Marcus William Stamp had a daughter, Mary Anne Jane Stamp, with Jane Creighton, born 23/11/1839 and baptised in St Catherine 01/07/1840. Jane Creighton was bequeathed McKie's mountain property called Pleasant Valley for life in 1837, subject to annuities to Mary McKie and Sarah (Sally) McKie (Sally was a minor under the age of 15 in 1837).
