Biography

Eliza Mary née Packharness, born Jamaica, living in Northampton by 1841: with her sisters Sarah Ann(a) Parkinson and Frances Cox (both of whom q.v.), Eliza Mary Markham was awarded the compensation for the Carlton estate in Jamaica as owners-in-fee.  

  1. In 1851 Eliza Mary Markham born St Anns Jamaica, aged 66, widow, was living in St Giles Street Northampton with her son Henry Phillip Markham aged 35 Solicitor Clerk for the county of Northampton and daughter Mary Helen Markham aged 23 (both born St Giles, Northampton). In 1841, Eliza Markham aged 55 was living at Abington Street Northampton with husband Charles aged 60, Solicitor, and children Henry aged 20, Ann [sic] 20 and Mary aged 15, together with Harriet Parkinson aged 12 'Ind.', presumably a niece. Death of Eliza Mary Markham registered Brixworth Northamptonshire Q4 1858.

  2. Charles Markham (Clerk of Lieutenancy and of the Peace for the county of Northamptonshire) m. Eliza Mary, daughter of John Packharness of St Ann's Jamaica 23/09/1811 at Church of St Gregory by St Paul's; their daughter Anna Maria married the Rev. John Cox, son of Thomas and Frances Cox of Tottenham (presumably her cousin).
