Trustee of Maria Dowager Countess of Carhampton for the compensation for the Swallowfield estate in St Andrew Jamaica.

  1. 1851 census shows James Stephen Wickens aged 67 Conveyancer born Shepperton Dorset living at 35 Mortimer Street Cavendish Square with wife Ann [sic] aged 65 and children Eliza (39), Emily (30) and Katherine (25). James Stephen Wickens and Anne Goodenough Hayter had married at Maddington Wiltshire 12/12/1810. A son James Wickens was recorded as baptised 1819 at Wootton Glanvilles [sic] and Frances, Emily and Catherine are shown as baptised at Glanvilles Wootton Dorset in 1819, 1822 and 1827. Death of James Stephen Wickens registered Q3 1858 at Foleshill Warwickshire.

  2. Vice Chancellor Sir John Wickens, in the ODNB as a judge, was the second son of James Stephen Wickens, a solicitor of Chandos Street Cavendish Square. His mother Anne Goodenough Hayter was the sister of the Parliamentary Secretary to the Treasury, Sir William Goodenough Hayter.

  3. A 'certified conveyancer' who left £120,000.
