George Harriott Wardale

London merchant, born Jamaica c. 1807. Given as G.H. Wardale in the Parliamentary Papers and as G. Harriott Wardale in the Register of Claims.

1. 1871 census shows George Harriott Wardale 'Chief Clerk in a manufactory' aged 64 born Jamaica living at 12 Stonebridge Villas Lewisham with his wife Eliza also aged 64 and two daughters Ann Eliza 23 and Lucy '10' [sic: either she was older or she was a grand-daughter]; death of George Harriott Wardale aged 71 registered Q1 1878 Lewisham; will of George Harriott Wardale late of 12 Stonebridge Villas proved 23/03/1878, effects under £2000.  Geo. Harriott Wardale & co., Italian warehousemen 15 Garlick Hill.

2. A group of enslaved people were registered by George Harriott in 1832 as executor of George Steven [or Stovin] Wardale: for a number of those on the list a note says 'Returned by George Harriott Wardale... By heirship'.
