Biography

Resident clergyman in Barbados, rector of St Philip in the 1830s.

  1. According to the Clergy of the Church of England database, Robert Francis King was ordained in Winchester in 1810 and became curate of St James, Barbados, that same year.

  2. Rev. Robert Francis King married Sarah Hamden in St Michael, Barbados, 30/12/1830. They had five children baptised in St Michael: Mary Hamden (1816), John Hamden (1818), Robert 91821), Frances (1823) and Clement (1823).

  3. Robert Francis King was a trustee of the marriage settlement of Michael Jackson and Elizabeth Mary Garnett (they had married in 1816). The slave compensation for this claim was paid to Michael Jackson as assignee when King was given as rector of St Philip.
