Biography

Annuitant on Morton's Bay in Nevis. Mary Charlotte Thornhill More married first John Williams the younger MP, and then John Bindley. In 1794 she and her second husband were parties to a power of attorney that set out some of the background to the settlement on her first marriage, when her husband was shown as of West End Great Essington Herts. To date neither she nor her second husband has been traced further by LBS.

  1. The power of attorney, jointly with John Bindley (her second husband) and John Mathew [sic] Williams (her son from her first marriage) rehearsed the marriage settlement of his mother Mary Charlotte Thornhill nee More with his father John Williams the younger of 1766, and the release in 1769 of property including enslaved people in St Kitts belonging to John Williams the elder and their replacement by an estate given as Mirtins [sic] Bay on Nevis as substitute security for her annuity of £500 p.a. payable on the death of her husband John Williams the younger. At 21 John Mathew Williams became the tenant in tail of the estate and moved to end the entail.
