Biography

Heir of John Townson of Grays Inn (q.v.). In a codicil of 23/12/1798 to his own will (proved 07/01/1799) he left the property he had inherited from Townson to his nephew Henry Stuart of Madras. He himself was also an East India man, Secretary to the Bengal Council 1765-1774.
