Biography

Simon Halliday 'of Lombard Street' was one of a group of 16 annuitants created in 1775 when each purchased an annuity from Jacob Kladen (q.v.) secured on Kladen's St Vincent property, including named enslaved people, to raise £11,000. Halliday purchased an annuity of £50 p.a. in common with almost all the other subscribers.

  1. Administration of the will of Simon Halliday [formerly of Freeman's Court Cornhill, afterwards of Greenwich but late] of St James [Street] Westminster proved 11/07/1791. The will betrays considerable anxiety about the state of his affairs without specifying the reasons for it, and left his property in trust half divided between his wife Jane for life and his son and half to his five daughters, with his residuary estate going in the proportions of 2/7th to his son and 1/7th to each of his daughters.
