Biography

Mary Sayer of Harley Street was one of a group of 16 annuitants created in 1775 when each purchased an annuity from Jacob Kladen (q.v.) secured on Kladen's St Vincent property, including named enslaved people, to raise £11,000. Mary Sayer purchased an annuity of £50 p.a. in common with almost all the subscribers.

  1. In a codicil of 27/08/1776 to the will of Mary Sayer of St Marylebone made in 1774 and proved 11/03/1778 she refers to her annuity of £50 p.a. 'on the joint lives of the Prince of Wales and the Bishop of Osnaburgh', and left it to Mr Alex. Kellett for life. This was presumably the annuity established in 1774 in St Vincent.
