Slave-owner on Nevis, and doctor to the Mountravers estate of John Pretor Pinney (q.v.) among others.

  1. Will of John Boddie surgeon of Nevis [made in 1777] proved 05/12/1780. He left his 'plantations...negroes, cattle, live and dead stock' in trust (his trustee was John Fothergill Doctor of Physick of Harpur Street in London) to repay what he owed on mortgage (including possibly to Fothergill) with the residue to his children John Ward Boddie and Mary Ward Boddie.

  1. PROB 11/1072/65. The will implies but is not completely clear that the amounts owed by John Boddie to Fothergill were part of the mortgage debts. The will of John Fothergill of Harpur Street proved 12/01/1781 PROB 11/1073/140 makes no reference to slave-property.
