John Newton of Kings Bromley, d. 1706

John Newton, son of Samuel Newton of Barbados. His father first acquired land in Christ Church, Barbados, in 1654 and was a "substantial landowner" by the time of his death in 1684. John purchased the Kings Bromley estate in Staffordshire, England, c. 1670 and died c. 1706. His son Samuel was his primary heir.

  1. Samuel, son of John Newton Esquire and Madam Mary his wife, baptised at Kings Bromley, 03/11/1695. There were seven more children baptised to this couple in Kings Bromley: Anna Catherina (1697), Mary (1698), Barbara (1699), Thomas (1701), Martha (1702), Elizabeth and Joanna (1703, twins, Joanna was buried two weeks after her baptism).

  2. Anna Catherina married John Arden in Kings Bromley in 1713 and died in 1727 aged 29.
