Biography

Merchant of Bristol, trustee and executor of William Williams (q.v.), and showing other Jamaica connections in his will.

  1. Will of Michael Atkins merchant St Stephen Bristol proved 07/04/1763. He left his house in Queen Square Bristol to Ann [sic] Phillips, sister of Robert Phillips of Liguanea [q.v. under Col. Robert Phillips], and after specific legacies including £100 p.a. to his brother Andrew Atkins left his estate in trust (his trustee was Thomas Deane of Bristol) for the children his nephew John Curtis.

  2. The will of Anne Phillips spinster of Bristol proved 26/04/1795 showed a wide network of relatives and connections in Jamaica and Bristol, in most cases left £20 each. Her residuary legatee was the Bristol banker Richard Aldridge.
