Biography

Jamaica slave-owner, brother of Henry Shirley II whose stepdaughter he married. His wife's family settled a share of the Petersfield and Spring Garden estates in Jamaica on the couple in 1783. Edward Shirley Esq. died in England in 1806 and was buried at Standlake in Oxfordshire. The widow of Edward Shirley of Petersfield died at Clifton 15/03/1808.
