Gerrard John Halsted

  1. Gerard Halsted, son of Gerard Halsted and Barbara Ermin of Chelsea, born 04/09/1721 and baptised 14/09/1721 in St Luke's, Chelsea. Of Knightsbridge when he made his will in 1761 and added a codicil in 1769, dying c. 1773. Inherited £3000 in the will of his uncle Mathew Halsted (q.v.). Matriculated Queen's College, Oxford, 17/12/1740, age 19.

  2. Will of Gerard John Halsted of Knightsbridge [made in 1761] proved 19/01/1773. He left his Bybrook estate 'near Spanish Town' and his other property to the London merchant Henry Douglas, failing whom to Sir James Cockburn of Langton. In a codicil of 1769, he said that the had sold or agreed to sell the Bybrook estate [and the enslaved people on it] to Elizabeth Thomas of St Catherine and Hampson Thomas of St Catherine for £4000 currency.
