Daniel Cunyngham

1704 - 1776


Biography

Eldest son of Robert Cunyngham of Braidland and Craig (q.v.). On his mother's side he was descended from French Huguenots who had owned land in St Kitts prior to 1688. Married Elizabeth Hodges, daughter of Anthony Hodges of Montserrat (q.v.).

  1. Administration of the will of Daniel Cunyngham [formerly of St Christopher but now of] Ludlow Shropshire [made in 1770] was granted 15/11/1777 to Anthony Cunyngham the son. He left his estate called Spring on St Kitts 'which I purchased from Clement Crooke Doctor of Physick' in trust to pay his wife an annuity of £300 p.a., his servant Thomas Cooke £20 p.a. [revoked in a codicil of 1772] and his 'son and daughter Pearce' the £5000 he had settled on them in 1766.

  2. '1776, February 20. Daniel Cunyngham. Esq; in Curzon street, May Fair. (Ibid., [i.e. Gentleman's Magazine] 95.)' Age 72 at the time of his death.
