Biography

Member of Assembly for Clarendon in 1727.

William Demetres of Clarendon, Esquire. Estate probated in Jamaica in 1741. Slave-ownership at probate: 48 of whom 22 were listed as male and 26 as female. 17 were listed as boys, girls or children. Total value of estate at probate: £2020.88 Jamaican currency of which £1215 currency was the value of enslaved people. Estate valuation included £0 currency cash, £126 currency debts and £20 currency plate.

The estate of William Demetres was listed in the Jamaican Quit Rent books for 1754 as the owner of 940 acres of land in Clarendon and 18 acres of land in St Dorothy, total 958 acres.

The will of William Demetres was proved in Jamaica in 1741.
