Biography

Daughter of Samuel Barrett of Cinnamon Hill. Born 1746, married George Whitehorne Lawrence I 11/07/1768, will dated and proved 1798. Inherited Running Gut in St James, Jamaica, from her husband for life (thereafter the estate was to pass to her husband's son Benjamin Lawrence III, who in fact predeceased Margery).

Margery Lawrence of Portman Street, Marylebone, widow of George Whitehorne Lawrence, late of Jamaica, deceased. Will dated 09/03/1798. To be interred at Epsom churchyard in the vault where my husband is buried. My sister Mary Waite of Jamaica, widow, £1000 currency. My sister Amelia Thompson, wife of Thomas Pepper Thompson of Bulstrode Street, esquire, £1000 currency and my chariot and horses. To my brother Edward Barrett of Jamaica, plate, pictures, furniture in my house at Epsom, and my negro slaves, cattle horses, mules and stock in Jamaica and all residue for his life and afterwards to such of the children or reputed children of his late son Samuel Barrett by Elizabeth Barrett Williams, widow of Martin Williams, late of Jamaiaca deceased, as he may appoint. If he die before me I give all my estate to Samuel, reputed eldest son of my late nephew Samuel Barrett, and in default to Richard, the second son, Edward, the third son, George the fourth. My brother Edward Barrett and John Roebuck the elder and John Roebuck the younger of Love Lane, merchants, to be executors.

Codicil. Legacies to bulter, coachman, under butler, footman and others. 09/03/1798.
