Biography

There were two separate entries for Abraham Israel in the Jamaican Quit Rent books for 1754, assumed to be two different people but not further identified. One was the owner of 570 acres of land in Clarendon and 11 acres of land in Vere, total 581 acres.; the other owner of 720 acres of land in Clarendon and 11 acres of land in Vere, total 731 acres.

Abraham Israel of Clarendon, planter. Estate probated in Jamaica in 1761. Slave-ownership at probate: 76 of whom 49 were listed as male and 27 as female. 0 were listed as boys, girls or children. Total value of estate at probate: £4835.33 Jamaican currency of which £3405 currency was the value of enslaved people. Estate valuation included £65 currency cash, £439.32 currency debts and £0 currency plate.
