John, son of John and Anna Wilhelmina Hanson, baptised in St Catherine, 05/02/1718.

John Hanson of St Catherine, Esquire. Estate probated in Jamaica in 1746. Slave-ownership at probate: 177 of whom 89 were listed as male and 88 as female. 15 were listed as boys, girls or children. Total value of estate at probate: £12867.46 Jamaican currency of which £6025.5 currency was the value of enslaved people. Estate valuation included £0 currency cash, £1324.9 currency debts and £234.2 currency plate.

John Hanson, deceased was listed in the Jamaican Quit Rent books for 1754 as the owner of 5013 acres of land in St Catherine and 15 acres of land in St Andrew, total 5028 acres.

The will of John Hanson was proved in Jamaica in 1745.

Memorial inscription in the Cathedral, St Catherine: JOHN HANSON ESQR. DIED 1745 AGED 27; HIS WIFE MRS FRANCES HANSON 1761 AGED 43. ELIZABETH HANSON OB 1786 AET 40 JOHN HANSON ESQ OB 1812 AET 70. JOSHUA CRASSEWELL ESQ OB 1769 AET 39.
