Biography

George Gooding was owner of 218 acres and 30 enslaved people in St Andrew, Jamaica, in 1753.

George Goodwin was listed in the Jamaican Quit Rent books for 1754 as the owner of 218 acres of land in St Andrew and 3481 acres of land in Westmoreland, total 3699 acres.

The will of George Goodin late of the island of Jamaica was the subject of a legal opinion given in London 28/11/1763. The opinion show his primary legatee as Fife Elletson, son of his daughter Sarah Elletson, with remainder to her and then after her death to the surviving children of his other daughter Mary Dehany (George, David, Mary, Ann, Philip and Goodin). The children's names identify them as the family also of David Dehany (d. 1756).
