Biography

Owner of Pembroke Hall in St Andrew, Jamaica, in 1753. Given only as James Herbert in the archives, but designated as 'senior' to distinguish him from the James Herbert a minor shown for the Pembroke estate in 1768-9.

James Herbert was listed in the Jamaican Quit Rent books for 1754 as the owner of 519 acres of land in St Andrew and 400 acres of land in St George, total 919 acres.
