Biography

Annuitant of slave-property in Nevis, making her will in London in 1776 and probably dying there [in London] c. 1777.

  1. Will of Elizabeth Dasent widow late of Camberwell but now of Little Moorfields [made in 1776] proved 04/09/1778. She said that she had been entitled to an annuity of £100 p.a. from the estate of her first husband Thomas Pym of Nevis; and £60 p.a. from the estate of her late husband John Dasent also of Nevis. She left her property, including an unidentified picture that she had bought from Nicholas Browning (the son of Nicholas Browning of Little Moorfields baker), to Nicholas Browning the son, subject in the case of the picture to the life-interest of his mother.

PROB 11/1045/123; In the will of Thomas Pym of Nevis proved 21/02/1743 [PROB 11/732/96, indexed by TNA as 21/02/1744] he left his slave-property in trust for his wife Elizabeth for life and then to his nephew Thomas Pym Stewart: it identified his father-in-law as Col. Thomas Butler. The family must therefore have sold the estate subject to an annuity for her to compensate her for her life-interest.
