Biography

  1. Will of Christopher Farwell of Totnes Devon [made in 1831 with a codicil of 1833] proved 24/09/1838. Under the will he left his house to his wife for life (with £500 outright) then to his son William; his 1/4 share in the banking business at Totnes and Newton Bushell in Devon operated under Wise, Farwell, Baker and Bentall to his son Robert; and his real estate in Devon, and his estates and 'slaves' in Surinam in possession of his brother-in-law John Bent, in trust subject to his wife's legacy and legacies to his younger children, for his eldest son William and his heirs. The bank collapsed shortly after Farwell's death.
